we decided to take a little break from this here blogging. - as you might of noticed.
because me and lucy just do soo much of it anyway.
But we justified it because, honestly, we were running out of things to write and ways to be new.
so we weighed it up and decided a small 1 month break might rejuvinate our creative libido, instead of risking writing about miscellaneous nothings...
wait. no..but that's what...

BERTIE BLACKMAN
I did tell you about this girl once.
i do hope you listened. because now she's at it again.
with the release of her new album 'Secrets & Lies' in line for May this year, Bertie is throwing yet another thrilling bomb-shell at all genre based preconception.
heres the quickie:
in 2004 after the release of 'Headway' (a whiney but lovable folk inspired album) Bertie was hailed the 'Underground Queen'. a title attainable by so few of us.
After touring and promotion, Bertie went on to record her 2nd album 'Black'.
seemingly as far detached from the style of 'headway' as my life is from society;
The album was a feisty, rock and roll inspired disc of concentrated kitchen dancing and blissfully ignorant driving.
She went on to record a song for the soundtrack to 'Hey, Hey its Esther Blueburger' with Silverchair collab - Paul Mac
Now, in 2009; she's done it again. Miss Blackman is recording with the Lee Groves (Gwen Stefani, Goldfrapp etc.. etc..boring...) - She's cut & dyed her hair, and this time round draws her inspiration from dark roots, whilst still maintaining her desire to make a perfectly modern Pop record.
Ladies and gentlemen, the result being Electro.
again, quite far removed from her previous styles - but still perfectly lovable.
The album is great. the electro isnt overdone, and she still sings quite a lot, her lyrics are honest, the melodies are catchy, and overall, it's mesmerising. if anything, the new effects complement her style rather than changing them. one play just doesnt seem to be enough.
highlights for me:
her Myspace single release 'Heart'.
White Owl (the opening riff of which is uncannily similar to the white stripes' 'Icky Thump')
and Baby Teeth (my apologies. Mediafire decided to time out on this one...another day)
or you could just wait till may. GEEZ way to be impatient)
here is the album cover - as i know it now.
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR IT

~Ronan - who still loves you. our relationship is just ambivalent. that's all
